President Bob Smith is pleased to announce the Volunteer Cancer Drivers Society has joined Rotary as part of its service to the community.

The VCDS has been granted corporate membership in the White Rock Rotary Club. One of many clubs throughout the region that have generously supported our mission to provide free transportation to cancer patients in several communities on the Lower Mainland and in the Fraser Valley.

VCDS President Smith said.

“Rotary has been very strong supporters of our service to cancer patients, one of the many community activities it performs all over the world. We are especially pleased to be affiliated with this leading worldwide organization.”

Our volunteer cancer drivers’ organization is entering its fourth year of service to the community. Over 200 volunteer drivers are expected to make more than 20,000 trips with cancer patients this year. Funding is provided by community-minded organizations like Rotary, along with support from municipal governments, firefighters unions, foundations, our drivers and the general public. We do not receive funding from the provincial government or major cancer agencies.

White Rock Rotary Club President Fred Wickens welcomed the Volunteer Cancer Drivers saying

“We are very pleased to have the Volunteer Cancer Drivers join the Rotary Club. Their commitment and work in our local community align well with Rotary values. We look forward to a strong partnership.”
